Deep Blue Hot Springs, Warrnambool
Nestled on the coastline at the western end of the Great Ocean Road, Deep Blue Hot Springs is a blissful sanctuary for tired muscles and weary feet. It’s around an hour’s drive from the 12 Apostles, where the Great Ocean Walk ends, so it’s a well-placed reward for anyone finishing their hike at this jaw-dropping natural wonder.
Enjoy a soak in one of the 15 open-air geothermal rock pools, each set within beautifully landscaped gardens. The mineral-rich waters are naturally heated from deep underground, helping to reduce inflammation, boost circulation, and promote deep relaxation — ideal after long days of walking coastal trails. For an extra treat, book in for a massage or rejuvenating spa treatment at the on-site Day Spa.

DIY Wellness Along the Great Ocean Walk
You don’t have to wait until after the trail to indulge in some wellness — there are plenty of opportunities to find restorative and relaxing moments along the way. Here are a few tips to create your own self-care moments while on the Great Ocean Walk.
Sunrise Yoga on the Beach
There’s something powerful about stretching on the beach before you commence your walk through nature. Some of our favourite spots for a peaceful sun salutation include:
Along the Great Ocean Road:
- Fairhaven Beach: A gorgeous beach only steps from the Great Ocean Road
- Lorne: A beautiful beach lined with coastal bush and Cyprus trees
And on the Great Ocean Walk:
- Apollo Bay: A beautiful beach nestled within the foothills of the Otways
- Blanket Bay: Located in the heart of the Great Otway National Park
- Johanna Beach: Wild and beautiful (but check the tides first)
If you are hiking the Great Ocean Walk and have no yoga mat, no problem. A towel will do just fine! We recommend bringing a small towel anyway to dry your feet after crossing any shallow rivers, or if you want to cool down your toes in the ocean. Something light, like an ultra-light fold-away towel, is perfect as it takes up hardly any space in your backpack.
A Mindful Walk Through Great Otway National Park
The Great Otway National Park isn’t just a hiking destination — it’s a natural cathedral of calm. With towering tree ferns, mossy gullies, and the gentle hush of waterfalls, it’s a perfect place to practise walking meditation or forest bathing.
Erskine Falls near Lorne is particularly special or even Hopetoun Falls near the Great Ocean Walk track. Pause at the lookouts or descend to the base of the falls and truly appreciate the wonder of nature all around you

Nourishing Food for Body and Soul
Wellness also means fuelling yourself with good food — something we take seriously on the Great Ocean Walk! You’ll find plenty of local gems offering wholesome, fresh meals and local produce to take away with you, which is ideal for those staying in self-catering accommodation:
- The Shelter in Apollo Bay: An original Apollo Bay home, it’s a perfect way to experience how the ‘old’ Apollo Bay locals lived whilst enjoying organic food and coffee.
- WellNest Health Food Store, Camperdown: A hidden gem for healthy snacks and whole foods with a cosy cafe serving great coffee.
- The Fresh Market, Warrnambool: This Sunday-only market is a treat for local produce if you’re self-catering, as well as local handmade crafts.
- Jo’s Pantry, Colac: Organic, nourishing, locally sourced dishes and treats, and with plenty of vegan options too!
- The Perch at Lavers Hill: A warm, welcoming restaurant offering hearty meals in a beautiful interior with stunning surroundings.
