Meet the Team at Walk91

The People Behind Your Great Ocean Walk Experience

The Walk91 team is a small group of passionate locals who care deeply about the Great Ocean Walk. Each person brings their own skills, experience, and local knowledge to your journey. When you join one of our Self-Guided Great Ocean Walk Tours  or  Great Ocean Walk Shuttle Services, our team is here to support you from start to finish.

Mark – Co-Founder, Guide & Problem-Solver

Mark’s connection to the Great Ocean Walk runs deep. As a Parks Victoria Ranger in the early 2000s, he helped build several original sections of the track. This hands-on experience gave him a unique understanding of the land, the terrain, and the needs of walkers.

After working in tourism across London, Egypt, and Central America, Mark returned home to Apollo Bay. He and Nancy founded Walk91 to give travellers the chance to experience the Great Ocean Walk with genuine local insight and strong, practical support.

Mark brings calm leadership, extensive safety knowledge, and behind-the-scenes expertise to every tour. He ensures that each walk runs smoothly, and he is always ready to help with logistics, advice, and problem-solving along the trail.

Nancy – Co-Founder, Planner & Storyteller

Nancy brings creativity, precision, and a warm personal touch to Walk91. Before moving to Apollo Bay, she worked in fashion design and production in London and China. This experience built her attention to detail, project management skills, and love of storytelling.

She now applies those strengths to crafting Walk91’s walking notes, itineraries, and guest communications. Nancy adds history, local stories, and thoughtful details to every tour.

Behind the scenes, she coordinates planning, supports the team, and helps prepare (and even grow!) wholesome homemade meals for walkers. Nancy loves sharing insights about the landscape and enjoys helping guests connect with the region’s rich history.

Susie – Driver, Greeter & Ocean Lover

Susie is a passionate gardener, a devoted grandmother, and a keen ocean swimmer. She also supports a range of local community projects. Her warm nature and strong connection to Apollo Bay make her a valued member of the Walk91 team.

Often the first friendly face you will meet when you arrive, Susie helps welcome guests, answer questions, and guide you onto the right shuttle. She brings a fun yet supportive presence to each day and enjoys helping walkers feel relaxed, informed, and ready for their Great Ocean Walk adventure.

Peter – Shuttle Captain, Local Sailor & Artist

“Captain” Peter loves the great outdoors and is a long-time member of the Apollo Bay Sailing Club. His connection to the coast and the local community runs deep. Peter is also a talented painter, and you can see his ocean mural beside our Seafood Harbour Shop.

He will be one of your shuttle drivers along the Great Ocean Walk. Peter is always happy to share tips, answer questions, and offer support during your trip. His easygoing nature helps walkers feel relaxed and confident before each day’s journey.

Brad – Nature Enthusiast & Local Sculpture Artist

Brad is passionate about the natural world and has a deep knowledge of the region’s flora and fauna. He is also a talented sculptor, known for the beautiful wooden carvings found along the Apollo Bay foreshore. His creativity and love for the environment shine through in everything he does.

Brad brings quiet expertise to the Walk91 team and enjoys helping walkers learn about the plants, animals, and ecosystems along the Great Ocean Walk. He also brings kindness and fun to each walk, making every day on the trail feel relaxed, friendly, and enjoyable.

Rod – Lifelong Local, Storyteller & Keeper of Apollo Bay’s History

Rod was born and raised in Apollo Bay and knows the town and its history better than anyone. His ancestors helped build the Great Ocean Road after WWI, and he loves sharing stories about the region, its people, and its past.

Walkers enjoy his warm personality, and he seems to know everyone in town — and often their relatives too — which gives visitors a special connection to the local community.

Rod’s knowledge adds a deeper understanding of the landscape, the families who shaped it, and the history that makes Apollo Bay unique.
