Along the Great Ocean Walk, there are a number of notable attractions you’ll want to stop at. Passing through two national parks, the Great Otway National Park and Port Campbell National Park, you’ll also be treated to breathtaking natural scenery.
Here are some highlights of the Great Ocean Walk:
Cape Otway Lightstation
The oldest remaining lighthouse on mainland Australia, the Cape Otway Lightstation is an iconic and historic attraction along the Great Ocean Walk. Built in 1848, the lighthouse is perched on the edge of treacherous cliffs which once saw hundreds of shipwrecks.
Rainbow Falls
The Rainbow Falls make for a stunning stop along the Great Ocean Walk, where water flows from a spring above the cliff. On a hot day, you’ll definitely want to stop here and cool down under the fresh and glistening water!
Wreck BeachÂ
To see remnants of shipwrecks this coastline is known for, head to the appropriately named Wreck Beach. Here, you can see the anchors of Marie Gabrielle and Fiji shipwrecks, which both ran aground in the 19th century.
12 ApostlesÂ
Of course, the highlight of the Great Ocean Walk is the 12 Apostles. Upon completing your epic trek, you will be treated to spectacular views of this coastline, which over hundreds of years has been eroded into a breathtaking masterpiece of nature.
