Dear Walk 91, I felt I needed to let you know how much I enjoyed the Walk 91 experience.
Every part of it was exceptional and I haven’t stopped telling my friends about the varied and wonderful experiences I encountered: from the B&Bs to the organisation, local knowledge and support provided; not to mention the amazing scenery.
You definitely have this walk sorted in every way.
Many thanks again,
We thought the itinerary was well planned – very thorough.
The walking package was great – I can’t really think of any improvements that could be made.
The accommodations were fabulous – way beyond what we had expected. The first two places were quite unique – both gorgeous settings. Being at the ecolodge was very interesting and the people there were so passionate about what they do so we learned a lot. Both the ecolodge and the b&b were really accommodating to Cam’s eating issues – both went beyond our expectations. The b&b hosts were very friendly and really tried to make us feel at home. The food at both places was outstanding!!!
I found out about Walk 91 through an internet search after searching for top hikes in Australia.
We found it very easy to find the meeting spots each day…
We thought the walk was fabulous! We were so impressed with how well the trail is maintained. You could not get lost – so well marked.
We loved the lighthouse portion as well – spent a lot of time there.
The only thing I would stress is for people to take walking sticks. You might not need them in dry weather, but because it rained so much during our walk, the fifth day especially was particularly muddy and really slippery so the sticks made navigation so easy.
You cover everything really well on your website.
We would highly recommend Walk91 to anyone. The way the walk is set up, it can accommodate all types of walkers, which is really great. We met a couple of people using another company and Walk91 sounded like much better value. You are doing a great job!
We enjoyed the walk very much. It was a very good walk.
We heard of Walk 91 on the internet. The itinerary was for the most part good. The first day is long and much walking along forest roads. Also the fourth day was a long stretch along roads where cars are driving. But I heard that parks Victoria will change this in the future.
The fifth day is compared to the other days very hard, especially when it is warm weather. You don’t expect that after the first 4 days.
The accommodation was perfect.
It was very easy to find the meeting spots.
It would be great if Parks Victoria could change the forest roads into walking tracks.
Our tip is it is absolutely necessary to have a phone that works on the track to get in contact with the transporters. We were glad that we could borrow one form you.
Dear Walk 91. We had a great time on the walk.
Thank you!
The weather was great and we really enjoyed staying at the accommodation on the walk.
The itinerary was first class. Everything went smoothly.
We particularly liked the Eco Lodge. Dinners at the Eco Lodge were excellent . All accommodation was very good and comfortable. Pack lunches were also excellent.
The walk itself was first Class. One of the best we have done.
We heard of Walk 91 from researching the internet.
Some of the signage could be improved. There were a couple of occasions on days 1 and 2 where the signage was not too good.
Mosquito / Fly net is essential. Flies are a pest when the sun is out.
Thank you for organising an amazing trip. Everything was first class and well organised.
The itinerary was excellent. It gave us the best opportunity in the days we had available to experience the best of what the GOW was all about. We all want to come back and walk the small sections we missed due to our 4 day restraint.
You give your clients the best information about the walk, flora and fauna and the history of the area. Obviously over the years you have it all covered.
Both the Sandpiper Motel and the B&B gave us 1st class service. Very friendly and congenial and did everything possible to make our stay special. We found the meeting spots easy to find.. especially with the photocopy photos of the gates, sign post and meeting points. You covered all bases.
The GOW lives up to its name and is spectacular, but I wish they would make the paths meet so that there was no actual road walking.
Our suggestions for Parks Victoria…. Join the track in the sections where walkers have to use the roads with new tracks and install more benches for lunch and break stops. Our tips for future walkers would be… Just enjoy.
You both put together an excellent and informative tour and provide a very professional and first class service. We cannot thank you both enough for making our trip so easy and enjoyable. We will highly recommend this trip to our friends and family. We hope to see you again in the future.
I have been away and was certainly going to give some feedback. We all had a wonderful time. The driver was excellent and helpful and gave support to the only person who did have some difficulty. We had plenty of time each day – I think we called the driver the first day to come earlier and after that the time he gave us was fine.
The accommodation was excellent and in particular we enjoyed the Eco Lodge. It was particularly good to have the entire accommodation for our group.
We heard of Walk91 in Google and a Great Walks magazine. The itinerary was excellent.
The scenery was varied and beautiful. The track was well marked and we managed beach walking as well. The distances suited the group very well. We found the meeting spots easily each day.
Our comments for Parks Victoria would be… Continue to extend the walk.
You warned us about leeches, snakes etc. As long as walkers read the information they should be well prepared.
Overall it was a great success and thank you for all your help. Thanks to Mark who lent a couple of walking poles – can’t believe I left mine in the car! I have already recommended people to contact you if they are considering the walk.
Many thanks Nancy for the fantastic experience of the G.O.W. The accommodation, food and service and was second to none, absolutely brilliant and really enhanced the experience.
I had originally planned to camp along the way (which I still might do another time) but to do the walk and then have a hot shower and meal waiting for you each day was pretty hard to beat.
On my list to do again, even though we only finished it yesterday!
Thanks,
We loved the walk. It was beautiful and different every day and we saw so much which we would not have seen if we were just driving the route. We felt it was an easy to moderate walk for us. The first day is the longest day of walking but the walk is easy to moderate. Even the 4th day of walking which is more up-and-down we would class as moderate.
However there are no benches or places to sit in some of the car parks where one ends up waiting for the mini bus pick up. I am surprised that there is nothing available either for tired walkers or for other visitors.
Our tip is… Make sure that you take plenty of water. On the long first day of the 5 day walk my sister and I managed to get through three litres apiece and on the last day when it was very hot (well hot for a Brit – it was 29 degrees) we also drank the same amount. Keep your eyes out for the wildlife and the fauna and flora – there is a lot to see. We saw everything from koalas, kangaroo and echidna to a wedge tail eagle and five snakes and a skink to name but a few. Also on the first day, and not mentioned in the notes, after you wade through the Parker Bay Inlet there is a long steep climb up from the beach to the meeting point: just when you thought you had finished the walk, you need to keep a little back for the last climb.
We had a great time and would recommend (and will be recommending) this walk and Walk91 to anyone who enjoys long distance walking.
Regards,
Thanks for a fantastic Great Ocean Walk experience. We had a lovely time.
The walk was beautiful, and everything went incredibly smoothly. The accommodation, hospitality and food were a stand out! Also special thanks to the drivers for somehow miraculously always being at the pick up point exactly when we needed them!
