You will be accompanied on this challenging walk known as the 'Wild Side' by your friendly, experience guide. The Day Before Your Adventure Begins
Walk91 will provide a short, briefing & welcome session the afternoon before you start your walk. We’ll give you a run down of what to expect over the next three days of your walk. Plus, we’ll answer any questions you have and explain the itinerary and other important information. Your friendly and knowledgeable guide will accompany you whilst walking so you’ll be able to ask anything you like as you walk.
Day 1 - Johanna Beach to Ryans Den
The trail starts with spectacular views of Johanna Beach. Walking out of Johanna you will walk though picturesque farmland valleys. On your left enjoy sweeping views of the Moonlight headland. Look out for birds such as the majestic wedge-tailed eagles and white bellied sea eagles. Climbing upwards towards Milanesia you can look forward to being rewarded with stunning views of the rugged shoreline of Milanesia Beach. One kilometre before Ryan’s Den camp site your walk heads out to the Great Ocean Road.
Day 2 - Ryan's Den to Wreck Beach
Starting at Ryan’s Den track you head back onto the Great Ocean Walk. As the track rises back to the cliff tops you are presented with outstanding views from the coastal forests, high on the sea cliffs. Admire the Lost Apostle standing lonely and proud and Submarine Rock, ending surrounded by heath at the breathtaking Gables Lookout and historical Wreck Beach.
Day 3 - Wreck Beach to Twelve Apostles
Admire Wreck Beach with its old anchors rising out of the sand. Hike on towards the Gellibrand estuary and as the track climbs up to the last section of the walk you will see the iconic 12 Apostles in the distance. At the end of your walk you can celebrate with a photo from the official 12 Apostles viewing platform. We will collect you at 2pm and transfer you back to Apollo Bay (arriving at approx 3:30pm).
