We heard about Walk91 and the Great Ocean Walk in the Lonely Planet East Coast Australia Guide.
We were satisfied with the itinerary and the long first day gets you into the swing of things and gives confidence for the rest of the walk. We found day 3 a bit short but realise that it is difficult to even out the days because of pick up points.
We thought the Great Ocean Walk was fantastic. We really enjoyed our time on the walk, with such a variety of landscape and variations of paths, gravelly tracks, beach and grassy tracks. January proved to be an excellent time of year for us as the temperatures were moderate with a breeze along the coast.
We both had walking poles which we found very useful for the uphill and downhill sections. We used camelbacks for water which are good in that you can keep taking small drinks as you go along rather than having to stop and take a drink.
We thought the initial instructions and advice were pitched just right and we felt we had a good level of support on the walk.
